     When TOM JACKSON was quite young, he headed west during the "Gold Rush of 1849", leaving behind his wife and 3 children.  He never returned nor was ever heard of again.  This leaves a huge gap in the Jackson legacy open for speculation and wild imagination.
 Some folk might believe that Tom just ran away from his family and abandoned them.  But, most of us believe that some foul play took place somewhere that prevented him from ever contacting his relatives back here in the hill country.
